Administration

Thomas Andlauer, Headmaster of Secondary I

He was born in 1966 in Muri/Bern (Switzerland). He studied Sports and Physics in Freiburg, graduating to teach in grammar schools.

He subsequently gained eight years of teaching experience at commercial and technical schools in Germany. He taught all year groups leading up to the Abitur.

He has been teaching at the Europa-Schule Kairo since the school year of 2007/2008 as a teacher appointed by the Bundesverwaltungsamt. Here he teaches the subjects Sports, Maths and Physics.

As Director of Studies he is responsible for the subjects Maths, Physics, Sports and German Studies. Additionally he supervises the natural science collection of the school and has responsibility for the planning of the furnishing and equipment for the new premises.

Together with Mr. Pfälzner and the Principal, Mrs. Plag, he forms the Senior Management Team of the ESK.

 Katharina Merkel, Grundschulleiterin & Deputy Headmaster

Geboren wurde sie 1961 in Lübeck. Schon als Schülerin lebte sie mit ihren Eltern in
Ägypten und legte an der Deutschen
Evangelischen Oberschule Kairo das Abitur ab.

In Berlin studierte sie für das Lehramt an Grundschulen die Fächer Biologie, Mathematik und Deutsch. Nach dem Referendariat war sie an einer Grundschule in Hessen zunächst als Lehrerin, seit 2004 als Schulleiterin tätig.

2008 wurde sie vom Bundesverwaltungsamt Köln an die Europa-Schule Kairo entsandt und leitet seitdem die Grundstufe der Schule.

Die für heute geplante Lehrerkonferenz wird auf nächsten Donnerstag, den 9.02. verschoben. Ihre Kinder haben dann nach der 6.Stunde Schulschluss, also um 13 Uhr.
